A Thief at the Gala: Delays and Organization

So I managed to completely miss posting the very first chapter of A Thief at the Gala on Castle Ashlar. Probably because I was posting them too late at night. I used to be able to do that… apparently that’s no longer the case.

New Ways To Cannibalize Customers

First there was Sony’s announcement of the PlayStation 4, due in November. Then Nintendo promised that we’d be seeing the arrival Wii Mini in the UK. Microsoft has ‘let slip’ precarious details about the ridiculously named XBox 720, which they’ll be discussing come April.

I have to ask myself if I really care.

Calculations Underperformed

The heavy hitters of the gaming personal computing industry have been striking out lately, and they don’t appear to know why. Blogphilofilms has a good take on the epic failure of Windows 8. Watch it. He put the nail on the head better than I could have, though I have to say he reminds me of Vizzini, the Sicilian from Princess Bride.

Bothers and Brothers

Isn’t it annoying knowing you’re right and not being able to rationalize it? None of you know this but I’ve been keen to this activity in China for ten years, easily. How? How much time staying awake and aware does it take to figure out China is America’s oldest enemy? Look, I won’t be getting political, but we’re at the point of utter stupidity here.

Blinked In: My LinkedIn Group

Injustice and nefariousness abounds. The first and presently only LinkedIn “group” I have joined is loaded with spam. HR managers/employees/ilk promise to have the “best answers” and the “way in” through the myriad questions employers will throw at you.

As Promised: It’s Story Time

If you waddle on over to Castle Ashlar you’ll be able to read the story I began writing as an energetic fan-tribute to My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. I started writing this during the middle of Season 2 and wanted to do something different.

You know… no relationshipping, no “one day I awoke and I was a pony”, or “what would happen if Derpy became a mane character”?

Hasbroken

I promised myself to focus on the positive aspects of being a Brony. I know I’m not alone as an MLP:FiM fan, even if my word reach few. Yet even if no one else in the world – that’s right – is willing to do more than comment, I’ll be the one who pieces it all together.

I’m almost ready to let go of the title.

NCSoft Hardstyle: China Blocked

NCSoft just blocked an entire country from accessing their most successful MMORPG, Lineage II, and I want to know why no one has noticed.

“In our ongoing efforts to combat RMT, the Lineage II team is embarking on the first phase of our plan by blocking IP addresses from China due to high RMT traffic.” – NCSoft Announcements

Joystiq, Arstechnica, Gamespot, and others – I’m looking at you.

Consoles By Necessity

I find it refreshing that Gabe Newell is taking a Microsoftian approach to the retail offerings of what may revolutionize in-home gaming. Recognizing your influences is part of being a responsible creator. Unfortunately he hasn’t done that this time.
